Burning it down on the way out.
Go Gators!
Sounds like Huggins is going out full Scumbag. Anyone surprised?
This kind of BS is not unprecedented. Tarkanian tried this 30 yrs ago and it didn't work out too well for him:

The difference is Tark actually did resign and tried to rescind it.
Huggins is saying he never resigned (hard to believe since he told the players that night he was resigning).
I really do think he believes he is above the university and is untouchable.

Tark was king of Vegas until the day he died. I don't think it will be the same for Huggins in WV.

I guess you're defining it as his never signing a resignation letter. This seems pretty clear cut:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/...ob-b-rcna93277The university provided The AP with a copy of a notice sent by Huggins’ wife, June, that same day. It read: “Please accept this correspondence as my formal notice of resignation as WVU Head Basketball Coach and as notice of my retirement from West Virginia University, effective immediately.”
The notice was sent from an email address associated with June Huggins, with a signature indicating it was sent via iPhone. It was sent to Uryasz’s email address and did not appear to be a text message, as Campbell claimed.
West Virginia athletic director Wren Baker responded an hour later by writing, “We accept your resignation and wish you the best in retirement. We appreciate your many years of dedication to WVU.”
Some complain about the NIL and the transfer portal. All the while we have had Huggins in CBB.
He was drunk during the first resignation, so it didn’t count.
When all is said and done more is said than done.

He has (had) a cult following in West Virginia. When he went on Bill Cunningham he got out in front of it essentially knowing his fans and supporters would have his back and it wouldn't go down the same path that Thom did.
Huggins has done a lot for the state and has donated a lot of money to the university. But getting hammered and getting behind the wheel after his previous incident was basically doubling down. I'm honestly glad WVU didn't let him agree to go to rehab especially after they came out and said anything further to embarrass the university would result in termination.
There are fans out there who want Gee gone (don't blame them there) and Huggins back. This fiasco is going to make it very hard to attract any coach outside of the current staff next season.
