Great game and congrats to Mike Leake and Billy Hamilton--not to leave out Devin. Finally, a good pitching performance and timely hitting. Leake made up for his first horrible start and we have our No. 1 catcher playing. First time I've felt good about this team this year.

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Guess that shows you how hard Marty is for me to listen to. But Shannon is similar to Ron Santo...an unabashed homer but its all about baseball, not a bunch of not funny nonsense like comes out of the Reds booth with Marty and Brantley.

That run Hamilton scored on the sac fly was a thing of beauty. I don't know if anyone in the league scores there except Billy.

^ That's amazing. If he can get on base enough he's a game changer.

Is that Jon Jay throwing? Man, that's a rainbow noodle armed throw. Still, Hamilton's surreally fast.

Great point, and one that I have made consistently during the Joey Votto/RBI debate. There's nothing wrong with Votto's overall approach. It's tremendous. But he's also got to recognize that, in certain situations on a club that struggles to manufacture runs, he has to expand his zone a bit. That doens't mean swing at anything just because a guy's on third base with less than two outs, but he can't take the pitches a fraction off the plate, either. If nothing else, spoil those pitches and foul it off. Seems like he did that a lot more often when he first came up.

Would love to somehow know what the most shallow fly a runner has scored on in recent years. I'm betting that's the new record holder.

Leake made up for his first horrible start
His first start was hardly horrible.

Leake blanking the Cards in STL is huge.

Agreed. Leake's first start wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either. Today he was straight up money.

Homer Bailey is the one I'm worried about. Well, I say that loosely...its only been 2 games.
