TJ Friedl Set For Rehab Assignment With Louisville

TJ Friedl Set For Rehab Assignment With Louisville

The Reds announced on Thursday morning that Friedl is set to begin his rehab assignment with AAA Louisville, putting him on-track for a return to the Reds within the next two weeks.

As for Friedl, my best guess is that they’ll let him play out the string on his rehab for as long as he can, assuming he doesn’t show up and blast a dozen dingers in the first few games.

Wrist injuries often need a bit longer time to ramp-up timing and strength, and as Charlie Goldsmith of The Enquirer notes this will be ‘spring training like’ for Friedl, according to David Bell.

I doubt Friedl needs much of a ramp up to beat out the 6 Reds players with a sub 55 OPS+ that have been getting playing time.

I don't think that has much to do with it.

The main concern is that it takes longer to get back to 100% with injuries like broken wrist.

That’s welcome news. The bottom 5 of the order every night belong on the bench or in AAA.

It's important Reds fans keep their expectations tempered. Friedl statistically overperformed in 2023 and he's coming back from a tough injury.

    Martini is my guess/suggestion.

    Bubba without question.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Maybe, but even if his numbers aren't what they were last year, he's still a big improvement over Fairchild and Thompson.

He could bunt 100% of the time at the plate and likely still have a better average than Bubba.
    Where we gonna go?

This! Can't believe people are actually questioning who goes down.

They won't keep their expectations tempered at all though. Friedl isn't likely to repeat last year even had he been fully healthy from day 1.
It was a career year. And wrist injuries are no joke for hitters. Doubt he will be 100% till 2025. Ones predicting him to be great from day 1 will be calling him a bum and calling for him to be sent down in a month if he doesn't live up to their lofty expectations.
