Minor League Game Thread 4/2624 SATURDAY

DAYTON - Dayton is leading late 4-2.

    Jared Lyons pitched 1 out into the 5th. Nice effort. 4.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K.
Brock Bell has come on in relief and stifled opposing hitters for 2.2 innings.

Carlos Jorge jacked a 2-run shot (3). This came in the top of the 8th, and has provided the 2-run cushion. After a slow start to the season, Jorge has his OPS knocking on .800.
Cade Hunter homered (3) and was hit by a pitch.
Hector Rodriguez doubled, and scored on a Ruben Ibarra single. Ibarra has also drawn a walk.

Some defensive switches as the game moves into the bottom of the 8th. Jorge goes from 2nd to CF. Jay Allen II is moving from CF to LF. Hector Rodriguez is grabbing a seat, and Yan Contreras is now at 2nd.

DAYTONA - Pitching dominating today for the Tortugas.

Jose Franco, who missed all of last season, shut down St. Lucie for 5 innings on 2 hits, 0 walks and 5 Ks. His ERA is now 1.84.
Cody Adcock held firm for an inning. His ERA is even lower at 1.23.
Nick Sando has contributed a couple of scoreless frames.

Something has lit a fire under Ariel Almonted. 2 bombs (6/7) has lifted his OPS to .978. Almonte has 6 jacks in his last 8 games.
Dominic Pitelli is 3/4s of the way to a cycle. He only has to leave the park now.
Yerlin Confidan has homered for the 1st time here in 2024.

DAYTON - It got a little tight at the end, but the Dragons hung on 5-4.

Cade Hunter walked and came around to score on a single by Leo Balcazar. That made it 5-2.

Brody Jessee fiddle around, allowing 2 in the 9th, but eventually shut things down.

LOUISVILLE - The game is in the top of the 8th, and the Bats are ahead 8-2.

Brett Kennedy has gone all the way for Louisville, but that is about to change. He just reached 100 pitches, and has given up a solo shot to make it 8-3. Nope. They let Kennedy finish out the inning.

Blake Dunn has homered tonight (2), and been hit by a pitch. That makes 2 bombs in his last couple of starts. His OPS is .783 and rising.
Livan Soto has singled and doubled for the Good Guys.
Peyton Burdick has added a single and a blast (5).
Erik Gonzalez has singled and walked.

NOTE: The Bats have tacked on a run. Capel double, Jordan single.

CHATTANOOGA - Lookouts jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the 2nd, and the score has remained the same as the game enters the 9th.

Hunter Parks allowed a run in 4 innings. Effectively wild, Parks walked 5, while fanning 4.
Donovan Benoit worked 3 hitless frames, striking out 3.
And the game has just gone final with Jake Gozzo blanking Birmingham for the 2nd consecutive frame

Chattanooga scored 4 runs with the aid of 3 solo shots. Callihan (2), Ivan Johnson (2) and Allen Cerda (1).
Johnson is on a tear, lifting his OPS to .961. He added a single and a walk to that home run.
    Alex McGarry singled and doubled.

Getting HBP. That's the Blake Dunn that makes him a huge asset. Finds ways to get that speed on the bases. What did he have last year? 35 HBP's? Some crazy number.

And, that was a leadoff HR to tie the game. That's the type of HR Friedl hits,...timely,...table-setting. He's like a clone of T. J. Friedl, but with more speed.
