Anthony DeSclafani Undergoes Season-Ending Flexor Tendon Surgery
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/...n-surgery.htmlTwins right-hander Anthony DeSclafani will miss the entire 2024 season and at least some of the 2025 season after undergoing a flexor tendon surgery, chief baseball officer Derek Falvey told The Athletic’s Dan Hayes (X link) and other reporters. The surgery comes with an estimated recovery timeline of 13 months.
DeSclafani developed a forearm strain in Spring Training, and a long-term absence of some kind was expected after the Twins placed him on the 60-day injured list to begin the season.
While this flexor tendon procedure technically represents a better-case scenario than the 13-15 month timeline associated with recovery from a Tommy John surgery, that is probably very small consolation to DeSclafani as he enters into yet another extended injury absence.

MLB.com---
The percentage of Major League Baseball players born outside the United States on Opening Day Rosters dipped slightly to 27.8%, its lowest level since 2016.
There were 264 players from 19 countries and territories outside of the 50 states among 949 players on Opening Day active rosters (780 active, 166 injured (56 60-Day, 110 10/15-Day), 3 restricted) according to the commissioner's office.
The percentage was down from 28.5% last year and the lowest since 27.5% in 2016. It has remained in the 26-29.8% range since 2002, peaking in 2017.
The total number of international players was the fourth highest behind 291 in 2020 (when there were expanded 30-man active rosters), 275 in 2022 (when there were expanded 28-man active rosters) and last year (270).
As it has each year since MLB began releasing this annual data in 1995, the Dominican Republic again leads the Major Leagues among countries and territories outside the United States with 108 players, representing its second-highest total ever behind only 2020 (110).
Venezuela ranks second with 58 players, while Cuba places third with 18 players. Rounding out the totals are Puerto Rico (17); Canada (13, marking its highest total since 17 players on 2013 Opening Day rosters); Mexico (12); Japan (10, marking its highest total since having 11 players on 2013 Opening Day rosters); Colombia (5); Panama (5); Curaçao (4); South Korea (3); Australia (2); Aruba (1); the Bahamas (1); Brazil (1); Germany (1); Honduras (1); Nicaragua (1); and South Africa (1).
Houston Astros pitcher Tayler Scott, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, became just the second South African-born player on Opening Day rosters in Major League history, joining Toronto’s Gift Ngoepe (2018).
Houston topped teams with 16 international players, followed by San Diego (15), Boston (14), Miami (14) and Cleveland (12).
The 19 countries and territories outside the U.S. matched last year and were two shy of the high, set in 2018 and matched in 2022.
Randy Arozarena demonstrates how to home run - https://twitter.com/joframaso/status...96585955492037. This may be the finest HR trot in history. Do not miss the video of him slow walking it out of the box and kissing his bat before he tosses it - https://twitter.com/joframaso/status...01369831915927. Add in the pounce on 3B and the furious amount of dap at the end and this is a challenge to the whole of MLB. Get on Randy Arozarena's level.

Dodgers were leading 2-0 until Joe Kelly came in and apparently did everything he could to lose.
Walk, HBP, a balk, a few hits.
Now it's 5-2 Cardinals.
I guess there was also catcher's interference and obstruction. What a mess.
